Welcome and registration

Reception and registration are the main entry point to Café Social 57. This is the first space where visitors discover the centre, meet the volunteer team and freely explain what they are looking for.

This activity is not limited to recording a name or providing a few pieces of information. Above all, it is based on genuinely listening to each visitor’s needs, personal situation and expectations.

Some people come to obtain information about a French-language workshop, a digital activity, administrative assistance or an activity for children. Others simply wish to find a welcoming, inclusive and accessible place where they can meet other people and overcome social isolation.

Café Social 57 welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and languages, without discrimination.

Volunteers present the available activities, their schedules, participation requirements and registration procedures. They also help each person identify the activity that genuinely matches their needs, level and personal situation.

The aim is not to automatically register someone in a programme that may not be suitable for them, but to provide useful and appropriate guidance.

When Café Social 57 is unable to respond directly to a request, the team makes every reasonable effort to refer the person to a suitable association, institution or specialised service.

Reception also plays an essential social role. Many people first need to be listened to, reassured and treated with consideration before they feel ready to take part in an activity.

This service is therefore based on respect, confidentiality, clarity, kindness and a non-judgmental approach.

The aim is for every visitor to feel welcomed and recognised as a person in their own right, rather than being treated as a number or an administrative case.

The team also follows up on registrations, organises participant lists and communicates with participants in the event of schedule changes or the launch of a new activity.
