School support

A calm time to help children and young people understand lessons, organise homework and regain confidence.

Academic support aims to help children understand their homework, review their lessons and develop better study and work habits.
The activity is mainly intended for children who need additional support or whose parents find it difficult to help them.
These difficulties may be related to the French language, differences between school systems, a lack of time or the absence of suitable resources at home.
Academic support does not consist of giving children the answers directly.
Volunteers explain the instructions, guide the child’s thinking and help them find the solution independently.
Sessions may cover reading, writing, arithmetic, understanding instructions, organising notebooks, reviewing vocabulary, preparing for a test or completing a small school project.
The team aims to create a calm, reassuring and respectful environment.
Children can ask questions without being afraid of making mistakes or being judged.
Each child receives support according to their level and individual pace.
The aim is not to create competition between participants, but to encourage each child’s personal progress.
This activity also helps children develop self-confidence.
When a child understands an exercise or succeeds in completing their work independently, they develop a sense of ability and autonomy.
Volunteers can also teach children how to organise their time more effectively, prepare their schoolbag, plan their homework or divide a difficult task into several manageable steps.
Academic support does not replace school.
It provides a complementary space that strengthens learning, helps children overcome certain difficulties and reduces pressure on families.
