Images de l’activité — French as a foreign language workshops
The French as a Foreign Language workshops at **Café Social 57** aim to help participants learn French, improve their communication in everyday life and become more independent throughout their journey in France.
The workshops are open to all levels.
They begin with literacy classes for people who are learning letters and the basics of reading and writing.
They then cover levels **A1, A2, B1 and B2**.
Each participant is assigned to the group that best matches their level, needs and learning pace.
This organisation prevents beginners from being faced with content that is too difficult and ensures that more advanced participants do not remain in a group that no longer allows them to progress.
The workshops take into account differences in educational background, learning speed, reading and writing abilities, as well as each participant’s individual needs.
Learning is not based solely on grammar or traditional classroom exercises.
The sessions are mainly connected to real-life situations, such as introducing oneself, understanding a medical appointment, speaking with a school, using public transport, shopping, communicating with public authorities, reading an official letter, completing a form or asking a question clearly.
Participants are encouraged to speak without being afraid of making mistakes.
The main objective is to develop confidence and the ability to use French in real-life situations.
Sessions may include dialogues, images, language games, audio recordings, role-playing activities and group exercises.
These methods make learning more accessible, engaging and interactive.
The workshops are also spaces for meeting others. They allow participants to get to know one another, share their experiences and overcome social isolation.
Proficiency in French makes it easier to access rights, services, training and employment, and to take part in children’s school life.
At **Café Social 57**, French is not regarded as a subject separate from everyday life, but as a tool for independence, integration, social participation and personal expression.
